Perhaps that was to do with the fact that the princess was a being of light and grace, while his other form was full of mystery and hidden danger.

Most people see Yui as a calm, gentle and caring person but his real character is quite contrasting.
There are days where he can be calm and observing. Able to sit in a corner of a room for hours, reading a book and being utterly unnoticed by others around him.
In truth he is a “If you are given a lined notebook, write vertically” kind of person.
In general Yui is a dreamy kind of person of creative nature. Even somehow romantic. Sometimes he writes poems that destroys later. Because its sentimental and silly. “In perspective” wants to learn how to draw. But that perspective is remaining as such for like, hundred years.
Reads a lot of books, mostly in winter. Dreams for every book to appear at a flick of a hand. And of an endless supply of mint sweets. By the way, his hearing is quite bad. And everyone around him knows that. Especially when he puts on something like Manson and goes into a different room. And even better so, into the shower. Listens to “satanic” music because he likes it and classical – “because it’s right”. But really he likes any kind of music.
In relationships like in most other things he likes stability but also freedom. Does not look for love because he prefers living with someone and having occasional sex, no rules or obligations. Fragile a tad naïve and easily hurt. Does not want to be tied to anyone because he’s afraid of loss and pain. In a bad mood Yui is emotional and unstable.

6.Bio(life story):
Kaya was born a princess and his faith was not much different of those before him. With an older brother already assigned to be the future King, young Yuichi was sent to Asoko, where from a young age he was taught how to be ladylike and graceful.
However the tutors soon realised their hands will be full. Yui was an energetic, wild child who much preferred to run around and climb trees with other carefree girls, rather than perform tea ceremony with the quieter ones. It was hard to keep the boy in one place for a minute, let alone teach him anything he had no interest in. The only thing Kaya cared for was singing. His voice was truly magnificent, able to change entirely. He could sing like a child, a pure maiden, temple saint or a brave soldier.
Kaya spent most of his childhood in the gardens of Asoko, but as soon the relationship between Asoko and Clow where strained, he was sent home. A lonely desert city provided little entertainment for the princess, and more often than not he would seek comfort in singing. Bored in the castle walls he would slip away from the guards and maids, wandering among commoners and playing with children.
This also meant he knew what life for citizens was like and learned to care and respect them. By the time he has come of age, Yui was loved by everyone and his songs gave the people hope. He was thought to be a pure being, some angel or saint sent by God to guide them.
As the situation between Clow and Asoko grew worse, King Clow decided to seek help from The League of Versailles, for he was afraid of a war. If Asoko attacked his kingdom, it would be blown to ashes in less than a day, since Clow had no army, only its guardians and passing crusaders who always insisted on defending the city.
League’s Prince and Princess agreed to help Clow, but that pact had to be sealed with a wedding. The League did not have a princess who could marry Ashura and Kanoma Nomico, Kaya’s and Ashura’s little sister was too young for the marriage. So it was Kaya who was to marry a member of the League. Clow was unhappy about giving away his second son, the kingdom’s hope and faith, but he agreed to the pact in the end. Kaya was to marry Teruvel Aep Shiadal, but it seems it was not their destiny to be together. Surprising last-minute changes to the wedding plans, different future husband and Kaya himself in danger, for unknown power dwelt in him... that was all to come.
